So, adding to the opulence of this blog has proved to be quite trying for me, but this time I have something exciting: Dinner Tuesday!
What is this glorious event you might ask.
Basically, its me eating a new place in Houston for dinner every Tuesday to get a more cultural, “foodie” experience.
Tonight: Oporto wine bar on Richmond just outside Greenway Plaza.
We made it for happy hour. $15 pitchers of sangria, $5 glasses of wine, and 1/2 off featured bottles of wine until 7. Also certain tapas are between $3 and $5.
It’s kinda small, so 4 of us had to sit at the bar and eat. Supposedly, the owner wants to open a new location (Washington, please!)
I wouldn’t call the pitcher of sangria a “pitcher” per se. It gave each of the 3 of us about 1.5 glasses lowball glasses full. It was strong though.
Between the 4 of us, we each ordered 2-3 tapas.
Kelsey: Pizette with chorizo and manchego cheese and rosemary and garlic hummus
Aubrey: Bocadillo burger (slider size), Margherita Pizzette, and some bruschetta
Brad: A panini.. forgot what kind, Shrimp and Pesto Pizzette, Patatas Verdes
Whitney: Bocadillo burger, Shrimp and pesto pizette
It was a TON of food. And we all got to try a little of everything, so my favorites were the bocadillo burger and the patatas verdes (both only $3!)
Each of us paid about $17 for drinks and dinner, and I left with a pretty good buzz.
Anyways, if you read this and live in Houston, I promise to be honest about my reviews and hopefully will give you some local eatery options on a budget 🙂
